After a distinguished career as a medical researcher and science advisor, Sir Peter now heads Koi Tū: The Centre for Informed Futures - a think tank focused on long-term issues of societal development, sustainability, technological change and human development. He holds global leadership positions in science, science policy and science diplomacy. He has published over 700 scientific papers, authored popular and technical books including (with Mark Hanson) Ingenious; the unintended consequences of human innovation (Harvard 2020). Peter is president-elect of the International Science Council (ISC).
