Dr Rajesh (Raj) Nair is a heart specialist and the Head of Department, Cardiology at Waikato Hospital. He also serves as Chair for Te Manawa Taki (Midland) Cardiology Network. As an expert in minimally invasive treatments for complex heart disease, he champions the use of novel technologies for efficient and safer patient treatment options. Along with his team, Dr Nair’s work addresses systemic inequities in health care as he co-designs innovative models of care with Māori. He collaborates with management, executive and policy leaders to improve clinical safety through technology, develop sophisticated health informatics systems and champion values-based Medicine in resource-constrained healthcare systems.
